Powerheads are an ideal way to add a little bit of flow to your tank, or to get some flow in a corner of a tank where water currently isn't reaching. A reliable powerhead thats quiet, and easy to maintain is important though. Because these guys get barried behind rocks, are a pain to clean, and the last thing anyone needs is extra heat and noise. I've tried a bunch on the market, and this is what I think of these powerheads. |

The Kent Pro Glass Scraper is one of my favorite tools. I use it to clean the glass on my tank and it's actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. |

A quality heater is not something you want to skip on. I recommend fully submersible heaters as you have more options of where to place them. A malfunctioning heater can kill your entire tank, and their are many reports of heaters that break inexplicabaly. |

To keep these active reef inhabitants well fed an Automatic Fish Feeder was absolutely necessary. |

Maintaining Calcium and Alk in a reef tank can be a real chore. Especialy for those of us who don't have the money to spend on calcium, and kalk reactors. I had been personaly dosing kalk to my tank. I evaporate probaly about 800ml of water per day. With the addition of sps however a saturated kalk solution was not enough. I'm not wanting to experiment with vinegar because in all honestly it scares me. It sounds dangerous, and like an accident waiting to happen. |
